[Q] Is DreamNET
[Q] I'm running PCB and DreamROM can't find correct dropfile or
doesn't read dropfile.
[A] - Set line #1 in your *.CFG file(s) to GAP. DreamROM will then
read DOOR.SYS.
[Q] I'm running WildCat! and DreamROM can't find correct dropfile or
doesn't read dropfile.
[A] - If running WC 3.x - 4.x, set line #1 in your *.CFG file(s) to GAP.
DreamROM will then read DOOR.SYS.
- If running WC2.x, set line #1 in
your *.CFG file(s) to WC. DreamROM will then read CALLINFO.BBS.
[Q] DreamROM doesn't use my internal WildCat! security levels.
[A] - DreamROM reads the security level that you have WildCat place in
DOOR.SYS when it is created, it does not use WildCat's internal
security levels. (This is a possiblity for later releases).
[Q] I'm running WWIV and DreamROM can't read CHAIN.TXT.
[A] - If running WWIV 4.23+, set line #1 in your *.CFG file(s) to GAP.
DreamROM will then read DOOR.SYS.
- If running WWIV 4.22-, call
WWIV2GAP in your batchfile first (read WWIV2GAP's dox for more info),
and use the 4.23+ method.
[Q] I'm running VBBS and DreamROM can't read CHAIN.TXT.
[A] - Set line #1 in your *.CFG file(s) to GAP, You may need to run
VConvert. (Read VConvert's dox for more info).
[Q] DreamROM doesn't find the correct CDs. Marks wrong ones online or
offline, etc.
[A] - Delete CDINFO.DAT - This forces DreamROM to rescan your drive(s).
(Or press ~ from the Main Menu)
- Check the CD letters in COMPILE to make sure all your drives are
configured. Ex: DEFGHIJK...
- Check your default drive in COMPILE. Make sure the default CD is
the correct letter.
- Check the information you have on the CDs in Compile.
- ReScan the CDIs of the offending CDs.
- Check your CDRom drives to insure they are working properly.
[Q] DreamROM locks up upon entering the door. (At the Checking for Online
CDs screen.)
[A] - Insure your CDRoms drives are operating correctly. Insure that your
default CDRom drive is configured in Compile. Check for the
existance of INUSE.$ in the main DreamROM directory, and for BUSY.$$$
in the DATA subdirectory. If either of these files exist, delete
them.
[Q] Remote users complain about remote lockups.
[A] - Toggle spawning to OFF. (Happens sometimes under DesqView,
DV doesn't like some programs that spawn out.)
[Q] Remote users complain about garbage on remote end.
[A] - Make sure the locked rate you have set in your *.CFG file
is the same value you have your comport locked to.
[Q] You get a Runtime Error 002 at xxxx:xxxx when trying to search or
list files.
[A] - Make sure the *.DRF or *.ZIP file is in the CDS directory.
- Make sure, if compression is ON, that the DRFs are ZIP'd, if
compression is OFF, make sure they AREN'T ZIP'd.
- Make sure the name of the DRF you have set in Compile matches
the DRF file in the CDS dir.
[Q] After upgrading from an earlier version, DreamROM no longer
recognizes some CDs.
[A] - ReScan the CDI (CDRom Identifier). A new method of determining
the CDI was added in v1.3 and can cause SOME CDs not to be
recognized until rescanning the CDI. (Usually only the CDs with
no volume name will have this trouble... after rescanning, the
CDI will probably look similar to this: is;001A;11-11-94;11:49p;
[Q] When listing files on a CD, the some of the descriptions wrap the
screen.
[A] - Run FIX on it with the WRAP parameter.
[Q] Will there be an OS/2 or Windows version of DreamROM?
[A] - OS/2. Yes, there are plans to write and OS/2 version of DreamROM.
As of now, no date is set for it's release. Windows. No!
[Q] Where can I obtain DreamROM through Fidonet?
[A] - FREQ it through Fidonet using the magic filename ROM from:
1:105/278, 1:398/2, 1:398/9, 1:115/258, or in Canada 1:246/93
[Q] On what BBS' can I obtain DreamROM?
[A] - Refer to DISTRIB.TXT
[Q] Can I register DreamROM online with a credit card?
[A] - Yes. The following Fidonet systems have an online registration
for all DreamWARE doors. 1:105/278, 1:398/2, 1:398/9, 1:115/258,
1:137/201, or in Canada 1:246/93. Refer to DISTRIB.TXT for their
phone numbers. Or call Tiny Town BBS @ 812-275-5600.
[Q] Does the Memory display show on the caller's end?
[A] - No. The Memory display if for sysop eyes only. (Ie: Only the
local side will see it, the remote will never know it exists.
[Q] Compile locks up when trying to display VGARom.
[A] - Delete VGAROM.EXE. Either you don't have a 286 or above, VGA
display, or it doesn't like your video card. Deleting it causes
Compile to bypass it.
[Q] DreamROM quits working after I installed OS/2 (WARP) Ver. 3.0
[A] - Re-install DreamROM (in a OS/2 dos window). This has cleared
most cases.
[Q] Is DreamNET still down?
[A] - Yes, due to (yet) another move, DreamNET is down. It will continue
to be down until we get our Indiana house built. Tiny Town BBS
will be the main support site for DreamWARE Doors. Tim has been
kind enough to allow me to use his system to support my software.
You can contact me for support there @ 812-275-5600. Tiny Town
will be the main support site for DreamWARE until the house is
finished, at which time I will put my board back up. At that time,
DreamNET and Tiny Town will be co-main support sites for DreamWARE.
[* Problems compiling a CD *]
[Q] I'm having a problem compiling a certain CD, take the
following steps:
1: First, call DreamNET or FREQ DRF from DreamNET on Fidonet to
get a list of pre-compled DRF files available. If I don't have
it available, continue with these steps.
(If you have a DRF that I don't have online, please upload it
to share with others who may need it.)
2: Compile the CD normally and fully (if you deleted, or didn't
fully compile it.)
3: Zip and copy the DRF file to a 3.5 HD floppy.
4: Write a note with the following information:
CD Title
Problem(s) you're having
Your return address
Shipping method (see shipping notes below)
Any other information you feel important.
5: Place the offending CD along with the floppy, the note and
return postage (see shipping notes below) into an mailer
and mail it off to me at the registration address. I will then
do my best to compile a database for the CD(s) and return the
CD(s) and the floppy with the new database to you ASAP. Please
allow at least 2 weeks after your mailing to me to get and
return the CD(s) (It might be a good idea to drop me a note
through Fido, my BBS, etc. about you're mailing the CD, just
so I know the package is coming.) If, after the 2 weeks, you
haven't received it back, nor have you heard from me, feel
free to contact me through Fido or my BBS to check on the
status of your CD(s).
* Note: I cannot and will not be responsible for lost,
misdirected, damaged, etc., CD(s) send to me. You
ship your CD(s) at your own risk, and in no way will
Andy Stewart or DreamWARE Communications be liable
to you for damages, loss, etc. incurred during
shipping.
* Shipping Notes:
Please one of the following include:
$25.00 for UPS Overnight shipping, packaging, and insurance.
$20.00 for UPS Ground shipping, packaging, and insurance.
$15.00 for Express Mail and packaging.
$5.00 for Priority Mail and packaging.
$3.00 for Third Class Mail and packaging.
or appropriate amount for any other shipping/insurance
method, add $2 for packaging.
As you can see, the best return shipping method would be
$5.00 for Priority Mail, but the choice is yours.

* If you still have problems, feel free to contact me. Please give me
* the following information.

doesn't work", etc...

What memory manager do you use? (QEMM, EMM, etc..)
What OS are you running under, and what version. (MS-DOS, PC-DOS,
